Ok so my girlfriend is studying history of art and today she she showed me this picture Image ,
it was painted by Pieter Bruegel and it's english title is Netherlandish Proverbs (in Dutch Nederlandse Spreekwoorden). There are hidden something about 80 dutch sayings in this picture. I'm just curious how many of them our Dutch and Belgian fellow can find.

Its nearly impossible to find them all. MC and i could find 13.
The painting is from 1559, so most of the sayings in the painting arent used anymore these days. So its pretty hard :P

Is your girlfriend dutch then?

Here is a bigger picture lol, damn big

No, she's polish.

Some of them are quite universal I guess. My favourite one is this guy on the left side sticking his butt out of the window taking a crap on the globe, which I think can only mean one thing. Another one is the lady killing the demon in the lower left corner, as I've been told it means achieving your goal by any means. And another one, guy pissing on the sign with moon on it, trying to do something imposible.
Great idea for a painting imo.

well at least our team didn't have to go back to Poland as usual and still we have some good matches to come in our neighbourhood :p.

about the picture, the roof is covered with some kind of cakes, it's something about wealth but I'm not too sure.

The spilt milk basically discribes how futile it is to get upset over something so trivial. Spilt milk usually can't be recovered, unless you were to suck it from the ground with a straw, but you would need to be fucking desperate to do that. Bottom line, it's gone, so there's no use crying over it...

It's located in the bottom right of the pic, to the left of the bench, it looks like milk, fuck knows, i could be 'barking up the wrong tree', 'pissing in the wind'.....
