Now here are our game-monitor stats from the deathmatch server

Not exactly very good eh.
average:1.29...
that says enough...

Yesterday i was at the phrozenbyte server playing some maps.
And then suddenly the famous 'airport dogfight' map came on.
There were about 16-18 people online,thats not that much but it was really fun. Just everybody getting their favorite vehicle and shooting at eachother.
You can't believe how much fun it was when i destroyed a hunter with the well aimed rockets from my hydra

but the map didn't last very long and soon another boring DM came on. About 5 minutes later i had a timeout,but i didn't go back to phrozenbyte,i was looking for a dogfight server. And then i was pretty surprised i couldn't find ONE SINGLE server that was dogfight themed.
I told whiskey how much fun it was and we went on talking about hydras and hunters and a dogfight server

So here comes the conclusion: How about we turn the DM server into a dogfight server? Map making isn't very hard..
lets face it
DM: there is way too much DM competition out there to make a very succesfull DM server that lasts for a long time.
Cops&robbers: no way we're gonna beat NIR...
freeroam: this isn't a very succesfull gamemode + there allready are alot of those servers.
stunt: Again ,too much competition.

Dogfight:No Competition! Very succesfull gamemode! (it was in the beginning of MTA and i believe it can be succesfull again) We all know the most fun part of Deathmatch is when you get the hunter/hydra and kill your fellow players.
and another thing:its really fun to beat someone in a race and then type !pwned in the chatbox. But can you imagine how much fun it is to shoot the crap out of your fellow SKC members and noobs

I know the SKC clan and the SKC server aren't fully related anymore and everything server related is totally bagpuss' decision
But face it, the dm server is heading the same way as gtamp... (no offence stig :p)
I say we got nothing to loose ,but there's a lot we can win !

what do you think about that?

PS: Dogfight is also great material for MTA vids

Yer, me and mystic talked this over and i think this might be the way to go to make SKC the leading mta community. We would have absolutely no competition and im pretty confident this type of server has a lot of potential.

Just imagine: [SKC] Dogfight server - 24/7

If that doesnt attract people i dont know what will !

I see what you're saying about the DM server, but as I have said before, what about using it for 'all other maps'. DM maps, dogfight maps, stunt maps, puzzle maps, cops 'n' robbers maps, those skill maps like the one with the curved wall at the begining on the race server that pisses everyone off and all other maps that don't fit the race server. This would add a bit more variety and hopefully keep them playing. I for one wouldn't play a dogfight server for long, but a server with 'all other maps' I would.

now thats a bit the problem.
If you do something like that ,"all other maps" there is always gonna be a map somebody doesn't like ---> he quits the game and looks for another server. With 24/7 dogfight in your name,you know what the server is about and you wanna try it out. Most people without home server decide wich server they're gonna play on by the name. I don't think "all other maps" will really attract people. We need to give them a big reason to play on our servers. The reason with dogfight: The only server with constant dogfight + you're sure its always that specific game mode. Most people quit the server if there is a map they don't like but if its 24/7 the same game-mode ,then they know a server they can count on that will always be the same...
look at 24/7 cops&robbers NIR.
I don't think they're so succesfull because cops and robbers is the most fun game-mode. Its just the fact that people know,if they go in there ,there will always be cops&robbers and not somekinda new map they don't like.

Your idea is good but i don't think it will attract alot of people.

but ohwell: we're talking about something we're not even sure of if bagpuss will like it lol

Yeah, I get what you're saying but I'm still not sure dogfight is the way to go. Are there that many people who want to play it? Don't just think I'm poopooing your idea, I'm not one to poopoo ideas.
Hows about bringing back the elite racing server? Racing is what we do afterall. Passworded and open to all players by invitation only. We have a lot of good racers playing the server who love the SKC server and I'm sure they too would like a place to go with no noobs (does that mean I don't get an invite :lol:

). With 2 racing servers it means noobs can play the normal server and then when their skills are good enough the will be able to play the elite server. It also means we also have a race server ready for tourneys.

And in fairness, the whole of the MTA community is suffering from a lack of players if you ask me, which is why I consider 7 players enough for now.

How about just deleting the points script from the dogfight server?
its way too hard too script something that works fair and besides its just about having fun,shooting people and typing !pwned in the chatbox :p

it looks pretty good.. but i think removing the rs would be better, ot at least decrease the map time from 15 mins to 5-10 mins and it would be good, that way the dm scripts will work too

just played a bit on the dogfight maps
and alltho i love it,alot of people like no rs maps...
so lets say about 7-8 minutes for maps with respawn.
respawn maps/no respawn maps
50/50

everybody got peace with that?

hi, you can make a script that allocates random names to team 1, team 2 and so on. the players will recive a pm saying what team they are on(max players per team 4 so people dont forget whose team they are on

) and the team with the lease deaths throught the map wins say 10 points each and some cash :roll:
