Server is packed, but 80% of players are in GM. What a waste huh? Perhaps we could try what I've seen in a couple of other servers:

* At the start, everyone has GM
* When you reach CP5, GM is turned off for you.

And it works out rather well actually.

It doesn't work very well tbh. On narrow maps you just have no where to go.
Sure, on mr. green you're already 5 secs ahead of the pack by the time the ghost is turned off. But on our server that wont be the case.

Needs some maths, don't change the ghostmode when the cars are in or to close to eachother.

2. In next map gm off
But you can turn it on again if you want. There are so many player who race with gm on coz they dont know they can turn it off.

Surely that would work the other way though, those same players who don't know they can turn it off wouldn't know they can turn it on, maybe.

It's a valid point about CP5 carnage tho. I think the system we have now is probably as good as it's going to get unless we can come up with something else.

There is one other idea, how about solid ghost cars, like we had is the SKC vs PS, that way you wouldn't know who is ghosting and who isn't, so in theory you would need to be careful around everyone.

Or is that just plain madness,.

I know it sounds shit in theory, but in practice it seems to work out. (With no CP5 carnage. Although that does sound excellent.)

Getting fed up with this moaning during MW, bitching fights and arguments will empty a server.

Also an AFK auto-ghost script would help.

i agree with SyS forced gm would be better than a max ping limit to switch GM on..or even easier still PUUKs could just press F2 himself and do it,but he doesn't seem to be capable....

wll i agree with HT about all the points except for, allow toptimes with GM. I think this will provoke people to race in GM more and ruin the atmosphere. After all it is A LOT more fun without GM, even if somebody lags. Plz dont allow toptimes with gm

toptimes with gm is a bad idea; driving with ghost mode on isnt racing, we have a racing server, or at least we're trying to, therefore toptimes must be achieved by racing; gm on => no toptimes.. if anything we should enable toptimes only for gm off and at least 5 players on..

about the auto-gm on for high ping, i agree with that..

At the 6th map show a message: "The ghostmode will turned off now. Press F2 for activate it again.".
(obviously, who want turn off it before of the 6th map, can press F2)

For the rest I agree with the idea of an admin command to force GM-on/off.

Just kill GM alltogether turn RS off so its just like the original MTA n remove all stats n get a load of shit maps on the server i think this could make the server more popular than ever

Just want to remind that you dont need a high ping to lagg , and we have a few high ping players that dont lag at all
Ex: ]Alw[TicToc or [SIK]Rao...theres more so are they now gona be forced to play with GM on !!!
About the toptimes we already discussed it on the past so i make 1 question , why should i join a empty server if not to try on beating toptimes ??
otherwise i will always wait to see the minimum amount of players to join and this makes no sense at all

Allowing ghosters toptimes is taking the piss, infact it;s more than that, it's a blatant insult!

Let me give you an example. It wouldn't take long before every fucker is racing in ghost, trust me, at which point SKC ceases to be what competetive racing is all about for me. Which is >> everyone in the same boat, relying on hard earned skill to win races, and not some ghost car.

Can we just wrap this up once and for all and unanamous;ly agree that toptimes will never be allowed for GM.

If it matters so much, then why not create a seperate toptimes table for them, and if they moan about that, they can fuck off. It;s not our problem that people have shit PCs or connections.

Under those conditions im OK with it. When people are forced to use ghost they need some sort of incentive to keep playing.
However, if someone uses ghost voluntarily (Seb comes to mind) then they should absolutely not be able to get toptimes.
I also agree with the default ghost off setting.

More and more people will start using GM if this goes ahead, i honestly believe that. There are a multitude of senarios that will gradually "persude" a player to start using GM.

And, in a way Puuks is proving that only being awarded half points in GM for finishing a race isn't really a problem. He won last months championship, already he's 300 points over 2nd this month, you want to allow him and other decent racers toptimes aswell.

It's a tricky one. If it does go ahead, then i hope you prove me wrong

BTW i'm all for the obvious forced GM, AFKs, low FPS ect..

Ok, we do not like people racing in ghost mode, so why do we give them points, as it is not really racing?

Set it to off by default, and give Zero points if you use ghost!

That removes any reason to use ghost mode apart from recording their time.

Bingo! Less ghosts, more racing.

Then develop the ghost system to be fool-proof for racing, you can do it for DD why not race?
