I see not much has changed lately, but seems to have been really busy, nearly 30 people on most days! Like good old times!

Lag has been a bit of an issue also, just like old times!! It is more noticable with more models and stuff I guess, but generally seems busier racing.

I had a couple of weeks off, but looking at the good comments from regular players while racing, it been a fun last week!

I still dont get it; changing paint or atleast be "scared" of the car next to you is the main part of racing, why would you be GMed.

and btw, if u carry on with this ridiculous plan to force gm off, i will stop racing, some of u little hitlers will see this as a good reason to carry on with ur plans, but remember this, i and rob kept this server alive 2 or 3 years ago, racing when it was just half a dozen MAX in here, while "some" pop in for mw and think they shud have the right to dictate how and why things are happening, well bollox to that!! like i say, if u want to force gm off, do it, and enjoy the empty server that will result

lol, forced gm off would definately not kill the server; noobs love gm off, they love to crash.. the only thing it would do it irritate some of the admins more..
i think making gm off by default and forcing gm on for those with low fps or high ping is a good choice; or even making gm off by default and giving the option to turn it on, think this would work too

also stop calling driving with gm on racing, its NOT racing

making gm off by default and forcing gm on for those with low fps or high ping and giving the option to turn gm on ( also when their fps and / or ping is fixed ) is the best solution imo

in MTA:RACE there was no GM, i enjoyed that more. But im not saying it is better than 1.0, because all the new possiblities in mta 1.0 are awesome (models, scripts, nos)

GTA isnt created for racing non gmed, but thats the fun part of it. Crashing is part of racing

u seem to think its actual racing, now that is laughable - gt5 is real racing/f1 is real racing, MTA IS ARCADE STYLE FUN. but then u wouldn't know wot goes on in-game, because u or adi only ever turn up when most points are available

yes rob, i totally understand and agree with everything u have said, i dont care about points (i have enuff), take away all points for gm-on racing, thats a very good idea, then people will WANT to race gm off to get points, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT, but adi and mc have been very rude about it all. but anyway, i am having a fair few months off from this silly little game, and its because - for instance, i play for four or five hours with newbs, having a gr8 time, and then some little hitler comes on and kicks/bans a few of em for accidents, and those people never come back again, and skc suffers.
some of you tossers seem to think i am always against you all, but i LOVE SKC, IT IS THE BEST SERVER OUT THERE, but remember, it is a fukkin game, and some of you are sucking the FUN out of it, by being so draconian in your use of your powers (biber/pyg/adi/mc...etc...)take a leaf out of robs book, and look at ways of IMPROVING skc, and not just being an "admin"... anyway - see u after the summer, i have better things to do! peace!!!

please Rich, enlighten me.. when have i ever kicked or banned someone for ramming or crashing or stuff? all i ever did was tell em to stop ramming on purpose..
and since you're not too good at reading and understanding stuff apparently, gm is still/will be an option, we never said we will force gm off on ppl, thats why we have the forums you know, to see what ppl think of it; ppl dont like it = we dont do it; and this is what you call being nazis, wd, it tells a lot about you..

anyway, back on-topic:
fixed a few stuff about Ghost Mode, like rejoining a race that has forced GM off to get GM on; this wont work anymore; ppl will only get GM on if they join 30 seconds after race started..
i also added the AFK gmer; right now its set on 30 secs; you do not move for 30 secs, you get gmed... no matter if its a forced gm off race or not.. ppl will also get an icon above them to let them know they're seen as afk

Hey I got forced into ghost! Afk ghost!!! Whoop!!!

It put me in ghost just before a map started while "waiting for other players to join" so needs a little tweak.

yeah i stayed afk for some 5 minutes and then when i started to race again even if i pressed F2 it would make me ghost "with the afk message"
had to reconnect to solve it

there was a bug where it would try to turn gm on even if you already had it on.. its fixed now..
also notice that you cant turm gm off in the middle of the race.. you can only turn it on

Well I suppose you used half my idea, so I suppose it is half-working.

With no points it would work better, and with a time recorded it wouldnt make any difference to anyone.

For me personnaly F1 script worked well on a handfull of maps not half a server full of maps and especially not on the original gta landscape.And i dont like the idea of accelerating and braking in mid air totaly unrealistic.
Im sorry m8 i liked all the work you all put in with the custom models but imho oppinion F1 got out of hand and it wasnt open for discussion it was just forced upon us i beleive.
And yes you can say i do fuck all for the server because i dont know about that side of things but we all should have a say about things that happens to our server that we all play on.

Its more real than hitting the speed limit on a corner and staying at the same speed all the way, that is not how real racing is.

Real racing is hitting the corner perfect, and carrying that extra speed all the way down a straight to the next corner.

It creates overtaking and excitement. Look at the mad things they try on F1 to create more overtaking.

The Air control isnt realistic, but there are lots of flat tracks so I dont see a problem there. It is mainly for the flat, smooth racetracks anyway. I had tried it on other stock maps and it just depends on the terrain.

We created a whole server based around the handling script, I think it must work atleast Dope.

I needed help from other people, and someone like you Dope, you would have been perfect. An extra pair of hands to help.

I am 1 person with 1 set of ideas, I didnt like the idea of it just being me, because here I am right in the firing line yet again being accused of forcing stuff upon people. I was in this position in 2007 you think I would have learnt not to try and change things by now, I just cant help but try.

I was just trying something new with our 7 year old maps, I really did think I would have had more time to just be creative. I was just learning the finer points of tuning the cars just the other day, matching the boost with the initial accelleration for each individual car. There was a Subaru map I was particularly proud of...

The server went a bit quiet recently, but now its busier than its been in years, with faster maps omg! Yet still because an 'elite' few have spoken, its all gone.

There was alot of good maps in there, not anymore though so dont worry. People could have to helped me, instead of just moaning and doing nothing.

F1 isn't gone for good HT, atleast i hope so, it just needs to be better managed. There are a ton of maps where F1 doesn't belong, but i guess it really is down to an individuals opinion, and there lies the problem.

This thing about the so called elite speaking out, the core racers, the players who frequent the server the most, does our experience in MTA racing not count, we've all been around doing this shit for years, i think we have a fair idea what works and what doesn't by now.

I'm not just saying this because i've always had reservations about F1 but TBH yesterdays MW was some of the best racing i've had in a long time on the server. The server was busy too with 25 players at one point i think, lots of new names, and people stuck around, is it possible the fact that there was no F1 might have had something to do with this.

F1 is a challenge yeah, to the experienced racers who know the maps well and have a decent grasp on racing, but it isn't very noob friendly is it, the amount of times i see players slam into a wall at the first corner cos of the insane speed, or just generally struggle like hell to finish a race, it's no wonder they don't stick around. Our objective is to populate the server and keep players coming back, i think we really need to review how and where F1 is used, it's just that simple.

I'm game for testing, i don't mind helping out, and i absolutely do and always will appreciate all the work everyone puts in. The only thing i can suggest to salvage anything of any value out of F1, and there is plenty to be had, is to use the F1 server and test a handful of maps each week, but it's up to those of us who have their opinions about F1 to participate in any testing and discuss, it's the only way if we want to move forward with this and keep everyone reasonably happy.

im with sputs on this one, lets switch the f1 server into a test race server, a copy of the current race server and put f1 script on all maps and start playing each map with f1 and see where it fits and how.. considering that there will be lots of maps that wont need f1 it shouldnt take us long to go through all maps, few nights probably, 1 hour a night isnt much..

SKC = serious racing with randomness, unless it has changed when shit happens during a race, then we try to make it easier so shit doesnt happen again. lol

That seems to be my general point, shit happens in real racing, and it should happen in online racing too.

to answer HT: yes, RichKid's comments did make me wanna defend myself and the others who he called "nazi admins", but only bcoz he was defending you, you were defending him, and all he was saying was absolute nonsense crap

now to reply to your post: yes, i changed the mw voting system bcoz most ppl agrees to the one we're using now; and MW isnt made for randomness, as you know it stands for Most Wanted; as you can recall it was made to play the maps that most active players wanted (not noobs) and it was only made for the weekend, so playing pretty much the same maps once a week wasnt such a probem; now there are as much as 70 maps to chose from in mw
and NO, MW isnt about what noobs think, we dont want a player who doesnt know he can press F2 to change GM be able to vote for mw maps, we also dont want ppl who cant brake even tho they see every1 in front braking be able to vote in mw, bcoz thats not the point of mw..

also F1 only made it more realistic on a FEW maps.. and those maps had cars that were a bit too slow and the map was too big.. you want more realistic speeds? make what Csena did with his WRC maps, increase the game speed, this doesnt affect the car's top speed or anything yet it adds the impression the cars are faster..

about Ghost Mode, i did make some changes to it to prepare it to make it OFF by default with the possibility of turning it on and also forcing high ping and low fps to have it on, i just didnt enable it this way yet.. i will now, so we will have GM OFF by default (not if you join during a map) with the possibility to turn it ON
