Yep :D

We were having some problems with our SharePort* on our router. The problem is the Virtual Machine which is running on the server. I'll have to do some more testing to see if I just fixed it or if we'll have to skip using SharePort (which we probably won't do) or let someone else host the scripts/VM.

*SharePort is an USB port on the router which any user on the network can use with the utility program. We plan on using the printer on it so noone needs to be a server for it.

Nope. Doesn't work. :(

At first the VM had no network/internet connection, since I disabled its VM connection in the server's OS, but after some time it still got a connection, and after that SharePort stopped to work.

Looks like there's no other way but to let someone else host the VM. :?

How does running a virtual machine stop a shareport from working ??

Surely there must be a way to fix that :(

No idea. I'm not a VM expert so I'll have to pass that question on to someone who knows more about it. While shearching the internet I found with a user of a DIR-655 (an earlier product of the series) that seems to have problems with VMware running aswell. Although not exactly the same its the VM that causes that problem.

I'd love to host the scripts of course but unless there's a solution I won't be able to. I will keep hosting it untill someone else can take over if necessary.

VMware installs a bunch of 'virtual' network cards, and apparently the Shareport software has trouble handling more than one network card. Sounds to me like poorly-written drivers on D-Link's part.
