MTA:SA 1.0 Release date announced - Saturday 22 August 2009 (03:15)
After several weeks of fixing, preparing for release, fixing again, testing, fixing, trying to release, fixing, testing, we feel we're at the stage to actually release - at long last.
No this isn't a bluff. The date isn't April 1st. We actually intend on releasing Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas 1.0. As lots of our faithful followers have noticed, our roadmaps for Resources, Editor and the mod itself all reached 100%. The forums, IRC and our bugtracker have been buzzing whilst we've been going through and ensuring the release is as polished as possible.
Now, you may be wondering why there isn't a download link of any sort. This post is actually an announcement: MTA:SA 1.0 will be released later today. There will be no specific release time; however, a good estimate would be around 24 hours to this post. During this period we would like to reach out to all users and server admins for MTASA:Race and MTASA:Deathmatch to upgrade to our unified MTA:SA 1.0 client. With literally hundreds of changes including tweaks, fixes and features, MTA:SA 1.0 is simply the best modification for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. We urge all server owners to look into our Nightly Builds to ensure their scripts will be compatible. MTA:Race server owners should check our Upgrading to 1.0 and its Benefits page.
Please bear in mind this is subject to anything breaking at the last minute - despite our best efforts, these things do happen. However, the mod is now "feature locked", and the Resources package will not be getting any last minute modifications - unless any serious bugs arise.
Currently we're in the process of testing a Release Candidate which we hope will turn out to be the real installer.

Ok, I've put up a SKC server. It has like only a dozen or so of our maps as downloading them from here is a bit time consuming.
I'll be in there tonight 8pm - 9pm to give admin out.

I gave it a try last night on one of the few race servers there are, Green something or other, lol what a pile of steaming turd, honestly, maps were the biggest load of talentless waste i've ever come across in all my days of MTA, like the mindless scribblings of a deranged infant, possibly on crack!!
I suppose ghostmode has it's use when every race starts with everyone on top of eachother all heading down one piece of track, but our maps are usually designed in a way to avoid shite like that, so i don't really see a use for it, besides, when you have 4 or 5 or more players all leading a race neck and neck, it's a bit off-putting and difficult to see where you're going if you're constantly passing through eachother while battling for the lead.
Overall impression was pretty good though, sync was a bit dodgy at times, though there were 30+ players so fair do's. Anyway i'll bob on later Plodders, good man, it'll do until Lenny and George get back

I guess each server can set its own FPS limit. For example, the Drug server is set at 60 fps or so.
But a higher max FPS will only benefit those with powerful machines, so I'd recommend to set it around 30-40.

i've found out smth bad: when somebody respawns in front of u, even before he starts to drive, he is solid - you can hit him. actually fuck up ur race. so, can we somehow apply GM to respawning guys for some 5 secs?
also, add server info in the left column on this site?

Yup, be cool if we could use GM for spawning players, it's like hitting a concrete wall..

Anyone else agree that 32 is a bit too many players on one race server? I think most of our maps are not 'optimised' for such a high amount. I'm not saying we should change it at the moment - it's great to see the server busy - but if it stays massively popular then perhaps it would be worth having two servers running the same maps and the same times, with perhaps 20 players each or something.
Plodders: I would be very interested to know bandwidth how much your server pulls in a day (or after a week, whatever really)

It does kinda get busy, ghost mode would be best unless a second server is not possible.

I think we've unanimously agreed that ghost mode should only to be used in 'certain' situations

Oh, I don't really like ghost mode myself but a race server with 20+ people becomes a destruction derby.

I'm all up for the 2 servers idea, 20 players max sounds good, even then it will still look and feel busy at maxed, but you have to draw the line somewhere

My comments about having two servers was only in the event that in months to come the server remains popular. This is unlikely to happen, as the current interest due to it all being shiny and new will die down soon.
Regarding ghost mode: by all means switch it on, and make the server disappear into the mass of other race servers. They all switch it on because MTA 1.0's race servers are now full of noobs with no real ability. I have always concluded that the SKC servers were for the more experienced players (though noobs are welcome as long as they aren't arses). The server should be set up the way that we want, and not necessarily about cramming it full every evening. Personally, I wouldn't bother turning up if ghost mode was switched on. I quite like my idea of ghost mode and no (or limited) stats for non-registered users, but this requires some work and I haven't got back into Lua yet.
And yes, admin modes need to be restricted - even though it's fun to give Jr-Man a boat at the start of the race

yee i think you are correct about d servers ghostmode if we do it than we are just like the others and i was wrong saying we should look for server interests instead of our own preferences we must have what skc likes best and not what brings more players in
about d admin stuff limit on it no doubt
