i think the biggest problem in ghostmode is when it switches off... Many people get thrown out of the track or lagg pushed because of the sudden switch in ghostmode...
If you guys could work on ghostmode to work like it does, for example, Left4Green server in which the ghostmode only turns off when no one's on top of you and a minimal range has been estabilished

Ok, I know this was probably decided a long time ago, but I thought I might add my opinion to the discussion.
SHORT VERSION:
Yes, keep it on - it lets high pingers like me compete.
____________________________
Long version:
As many of you may know, I have moved to Taiwan for work (I'm an English Teacher), which now means I have a ping of 300+ when playing on the server. In theory, this shouldn't mean much, however in practice, it means a great deal.
Picture the scene; you're driving just behind me as we come up to the corner. I power-slide into it while you decide to take it a little more gracefully. As a result, you come out of the corner with a little more speed than I do, so manage to pull clear (on your screen - note this point as it is important). Once out of the corner, we both take the racing line, with you slotting neatly in front of me, pretty much bumper to bumper. A neat peace of overtaking, or so you thought.
You see, if that is what happens on your screen, it's not what happens on mine. Due to the lag, once you come out of the corner, you are not in front of me, but in fact level with me. When you slide across into the racing line, you don't neatly move in front of me, in fact you ram into the side of me. On your screen, there is no collision and so you do not slow down at all. On my screen, you hit me and instead of bouncing off, you keep going, as if Superman is in the driver's seat and is using all his superpowers to ram me off the road. I go flying, with no possible chance of retaining control. This has happened many, many times and it will no doubt happen again.
Admittedly, I can use this to my own advantage (swerve about the place when someone is behind me, safe in the knowledge that you'll get hit without any loss of speed or control to me) but I choose not to, taking the nobler route of ghost mode. Without ghost mode, there would be many more irate drivers on the server.
____________________________
So there we have it, a very good reason to keep ghost mode on. It not only lets the high pingers play on even ground (well, mostly even - if I finish less than 200 ms in front of someone on my screen, the server decides that in fact they finished first...), but it keeps us out of everyone's hair.
Like I said, I know this topic was posted nearly 12 months ago, but I thought I should add to it as it seemed no-one had considered this advantage.
Anyways, take it ez all, see you on the tarmac some time soon...

-buy several shorter cables -using a pair of pliers cut off the ends and strip back the plastic to bare metal -using duct tape or electrical tape connect the exposed ends of the cable -at regular intervals, e.g 10-20km include an amplifier. This is very important, otherwise the whole thing will not work
