Go for the 6700 instead. Despite being almost identical on paper the performance difference is significant especially for gaming.
Graphics cards cost to much brand new. I would try to buy something older but at 25% the price. You can get a 7970 for £120 from eBay!

I'd stick with the 970, I believe it can even be clocked to 980like performance, at half the price.

If you really want the best performance, I suggest posting . Make sure you follow their posting guidelines to get a proper response. In my experience, they really now what they're doing. All their advice is backed up by real-world data and benchmarks. Only post within a couple of days of purchase so they can use the most up-to-date prices.
EDIT: Just had a look and with a bit smarter spending you can get the same performance + an SSD, for less money than you'd be spending now.

Dear god no, you'll end up with a horribly inefficient build. I'll have a look later tonight for you sys. You have to answer a couple of questions first though.
- What resolution will you be playing at? - Is an average 60fps enough or are you going for 144fps on a monitor that supports 144hz? - Do you intend to do any overclocking? If so, why? - Any super CPU intensive games? - Any video editing or 3d rendering?
EDIT: Just to give you a rough idea, I'm assuming spanish prices will be about the same as purtuguese ones. GTX 980 is complete overkill for 1080p, 60 fps gaming. If you go into 1440p or 144hz, then it's a must. 8gb is more than enough for gaming and you can always add a stick later.
End result: €832 for a build that includes an i5, gtx 970 and a 250gb SSD

256 GB SSD + 970/980 GPU + 144 Hz Monitor + i5/i7 (i5 is enough if you are not going to render videos primarly) + 16 GB RAM
"Minimum specifications"

Did you already buy that monitor? It's damn near imposible to run any modern game at 1440p AND 144fps. Either is doable, but both at the same time requires nothing short of a nuclear reactor to run.
If you already bought it, you're definitely looking at a gtx 980 or an SLI/crossfire setup. CS GO should be ok, but there's no way you'll get 144 fps at that resolution in any graphic intensive games.
5 years lifetime is an illusion, no system you buy now will be able to run games maxed out in 5 years.

I personally wouldn't go for 27" @1080p. The pixel density would be fairly low at that size.
You should probably decide what you value most, 144hz or 1440p. Then pick a monitor accordingly. Jrman's is a good option if you value 144hz over 1440p. If a big screen is more important, you're better of getting a 27" @1440p that runs at 60hz.
Regardless what you choose, you'll need some serious GPU power. A single GTX970 likely won't cut it.

ok i went to check live that monitor you sugest JR, and a single detail made me change my mind, the 27" doesnt have way to hang it on the wall but the 24" haves, so that will do it. My idea on the 27" was to be able to see 4k vids from my gopro camera !!!
So Wim ill stick with Jr sugestion
Monitor Gaming LED 24'' ASUS VG248QE
Monitor LED Dimension 24'' Format 0,672916667 Resolution [ppp] 1 920x1 080 Speed 1m/s Dot pitch 0.246 mm
So if you dont mind lets review the pc.

With a 144hz monitor, you'll need the GTX 980 Ti (assuming you want to play at close to max gfx settings).
I had to use german prices to end up with . You don't need these exact parts, but they should be very similar if you want to end up around the same price of +/- 1.200 euro. You could get rid of the SSD to drop it lower, but that's about all you could save on.
Again, when you're ready to buy, post to be sure you're getting the best deal for your money and you're picking the most efficient parts for your purposes.
By the way, if you do a lot of video editing, you may want to look at a Xeon CPU (better value than an i7 and will perform just as good). But this will only further increase the price...
