Grid session?

So anyone up for a mash up on grid this weekend? Im gonna be on pretty much all weekend just started getting back into this game, dont why i stopped tbh its a great racer with realistic damage the racing style is a bit arcadey but still pretty good imo. I need to get used to my 360 controller though, been playing with a ps2 pad for years but now i see the light. I use these controls on grid> back triggers are accelerate n brake> left anologue steering> right anologue gear up n down such a sweet set up.
Give me a shout on xfire or reply here CMON my sofuckingcool biatches we need to get SKC back on top its grim as fuck round here atm :cry:

Too bad I've uninstalled the game and put away my wheel... But if I find the DVD I'll install it, although using my wheel will be a problem... (Can't attach it to this table.) Well, I could just use the keyboard as I did when I first played the game. I was even better with keyboard (but it's much more fun and challenging with a wheel).

I installed Dope's legit copy earlier in the week and soon remembered what a nightmare it is to get it to work properly with the no-cd cracks and patches and wotnot. So just bought it for a tenner brand new. Actually it was on specially offer, 2 games for Â£15, so it's cheap as chips now and worth every penny. Still a great racer! See you on the GRID muckers/

Yeah, there's also 1.3 patch due out at some point. The problem with the copy was the drift mode not working. I think some ppl had the rip version installed, patched to 1.1 and using the 1.2 exe to get it working fully.

alright, bought it. Let's hope it get it before time arrives. The game is 10 GB and downloading at 400KB/s... Now, where's that wheel...

Private hosting works aye - host decides what region ect and passwords the session. I'll be on for 8pm. Get on Xfire if you have it, aight, cos it's ingame-able

Are we up for some more tonight then? Proper enjoyed it lastnight, some close races, the Okutama GP circuit kicks ass!! (once you've nailed the slow corners :p) Definately enjoying the game a lot more 2nd time round.

Thats my name for some reason, when i set it up online i wasnt sure if codemasters would find me and kill me for downloading their software so i used an alias to throw them off [so much weed for so many years has made me permanently paranoid]

I run the Retail version1.0 of Grid

DO NOT installed 1.2 or you wont find many players, including me

The only reason to install 1.2 was because it fixed controller issues with cordless Logitech Rumblepad not being properly supported, but there is a registry fix for that anyway. patch 1.2 has about 5% playing, retail1.0 has the other 95% of players

1.3 is suposed to be coming out, but most people may not install it

But yeh i been on grid most nights for weeks now........racerdude1950....look me up

What I did was install the game (v1.0), make a copy of the .exe and call it GRID10.exe. Then I installed the 1.1 patch, and made a copy of the new .exe and called it GRID11.exe. Then I installed 1.2 (and left the .exe alone).

Then you have three versions to use, simply by running the relevant .exe.

I may be up for some Griddage tonight if anyone's about.

Buy the game matey, i paid a tenner brand new, HT, that's slighty more than a 16th and lasts a heck of a lot longer, then you can patch it and come and race with us, paranoia free!

When the game first came out i went down the copy route, trying to cobble a fully working version together was a total headache. I can't remember if i finally got drift to work on or offline, but after getting so far into single player it kept crashing and that was that. I won't be entartaining that shite again,.

I didnt need to patch it to get 1.2. I just replaced the 1.0exe file with the 1.2.exe, and that was enough.
Though, if you do that you cant change your gfx setting, as they will be set to almost max

I had no problems getting it run with either patch, i used the same mini image

i didnt know 1.2 tho, i thought 1.1 was current. i just looked at it, u can choose servers with no traction control/assist?

im nearly downloaded it now anyway

ill backup my .exe i think...

I'm pretty sure Kolezan's using 1.2 aswell. He downl;oaded the game through steam so i'm assuming he patched it.

It's not like i can de-patch it. I'm stuck with 1.2 since steam downloads the latest. I can however put it to not update the game to 1.3 when it comes if need be.

Would be even better if more people could join. :thumbleft:

Somehow my Grid crashes everytime i start it. It came after i was trying to record a video and the computer crashed. I might have to download everything again, since not much else seem to work. But hopefully i'll find a way other than that.

Yeh i pur 1.2 in over v1 and its fine, lots more players have updated to 1.2 lol, thats why i was playing 1.1 and thinking no one played, cuz everyone updated.......

But how do i join a private session? is that not a ranked customer match?

There's no ranking up in private sessions as far as i'm aware, but you will need a password to join.

Navigate to Private, then Session List and look for either me (Sputtles), Dopeman, Kolezan or Bagpuss in the private session list and join game. Password is bollocks - that's obviously when we've agreed on a time to meet up. Usually me and Dope are hosting and everyone turns up within a half hour.

BTW now that you've patched to 1.2 do the Drift events still work?

nah the only thing that dont work is drift stuff (in single plaer race day) not sure about multi. but you can still drift in test drive in carrer mode i mean the cars work fine
