So as some of you probably know from reading the Chatbox, I've been working on setting up my own DayZ Server. My Server is now up and running and ready for players to join, the server uses rMod - I will post more detailed information below.

Server Name: Freaking Awesome Guys - DayZNamalsk
Server IP: 212.247.249.193:2302
Map Version: Namalsk, v0.73
ArmA 2 Version: 99515
Number of Slots: 30
Difficulty: Veteran
Day/Night Cycle: Local Day/Night Cycle at GMT+1.
Mod(s) Needed: rMod

For those of you that are somewhat new to DayZ and/or modified versions of DayZ, my server is using a mod called rMod - a mod which removes most of the weapon and vehicle bans in place by DayZ. This allows for a bigger variety of weaponry as well as vehicles. I'll explain how to get access to my Server, step-by-step:

With DayZ Commander:

1. To make your life easier, I would highly recommend that you install , this is a program that can install and update maps as well as ArmA 2 for you.

2. After you have installed DayZ Commander go ahead and start it up, at the top you'll see Install/Update go ahead and click this. A side-bar will expand from the right, this is where you install and update ArmA 2 and/or DayZ. Make sure you update ArmA 2 to Version 99515.

3. Also you will need to download the map itself, look for "DayZ Namalsk", click the drop-down list and make sure you select 0.73. DayZ Commander will now download, extract and install this map for you.

4. Now you'll want to install rMod, you can download rMod . Extract the downloaded folder and copy "@rMod" to your ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead folder - for example:

C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead/
or
C:/Program Files (x86)/Bohemia Interactive/ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead/

Copy rMod.bikey into the Keys folder inside your ArmA 2: OA folder.

5. Once you updated ArmA 2, installed Namalsk and finally installed rMod, you'll want to open DayZ Commander and go to Settings. You'll see a text-field under "Additional Launch Parameters" paste this into that text-field;

-mod=@rMod

6. Once you've done all those steps, you should be able to connect to the server!

Without DayZ Commander:

1. If you don't want to use DayZ Commander, fuck you. You suck.

New Weapons

Over 50 new weapons have been added through the use of rMod, those newly added weapons spawn at and around different entities:

• Heli Crash Sites have the highest chance of spawning weapons such as the Mk16, Mk17, G36 and modern Assault Rifles in general. As well as some miscellaneous "junk".

• Wrecks have the highest chance of spawning Assault Rifle Ammo but also a very small chance of spawning less modern Assault Rifles such as the AK47, AK74 and etc.

• Care Packages are the only entities that will be able to spawn Sniper Rifles, the Snipers have a fairly low chance of spawning and pistols will be more common around those. This is in hope to reduce the amount of snipers, especially .50 Cal Snipers. Sniper and Pistol Ammo also spawns around Care Packages.

New Vehicles

In theory I could add over 70 new types of Vehicles, including tanks such as the Stryker MGS, M1 Abrams and the formidable Apache AH-64D. However, this is not the case. Neither Tanks or APC/IFVs have been added yet due to the risks of them being overwhelmingly overpowered due to Thermal Optics as well as a Vehicle Radar. Those can unfortunately not be disabled Server-Side.

More vehicles will be added as time goes on. As of now there are currently ONLY 21 Vehicles spawned. This is the default maximum limit set by the map designers. I will however add more vehicles as time goes on.

Known Issues

• [BUG] BattlEye sometimes kick you when interacting with loot around Wrecks - I am currently working on this.
• [BUG] Wrecks are not 100% reliable, sometimes no loot spawns.
• [BUG] Some vehicles are fully repaired when you scroll-over it and/or repair 1 part of it.
*This is Client-Side and as such can not be fixed server-side!
• [BUG] Windows on Hospitals are sometimes instantly repaired.

TO-DO List

• Add more vehicles, many more vehicles.
• Tweak Loot Chances at Heli Crash Sites, Wrecks and Care Packages.
• Tweak occurance of Heli Crash Sites, Wrecks and Care Packages.
• Create Bases and Fortifications which hold rare weapons. Players will have to fight over those.
• Alter Starting Loadout according to feedback.
• Have a foursome with TheBotnMan, Tulaipo and Noah.

Current Default Loadout

• Flashlight
• Map
• 2x Bandages
• 1x Box of Painkillers
• Primary Weapon: MR43(Double-Barreled Shotgun) with 6 Rounds(Pellets).

You'll see why you spawn with such a powerful weapon soon enough, trust me. You will - and you will thank me.

I guess that's all you need to know for now, hope to see you on the server and that you'll enjoy it. Feel free to post any feedback you might have regarding the Server - it is greatly appreciated!

2012-12-20 - [New] Server Auto-Restarts every 3 Hours.
2012-12-20 - [Changed] Tweaked Crash Sites, Wrecks and Care Packages, should be more common. (Haven't confirmed this yet.)
2012-12-20 - [Fixed] Global Chat is no longer Enabled.

@Dopeman: I doubt I'll be changing to Namalsk, while I find the new changes made to it somewhat interesting, I'm not a big fan of the map itself. Taviana feels like a much more professional and more "real-life"-ish map, although the size of the map might be a bit too big for some people.

Edit: Scratch that. I now see why you'd want Namalsk and I've changed it. Watch out for the EVR ;)

@B!BeR: It should work now, me and my friends successfully connected to it and the loot and crash sites are spawning as intended. Just remember to enable rMod!

Big Update!

Namalsk had 21 Vehicle Spawns by default, I have now spent countless hours adding new vehicles. Current amount of spawned vehicles are 48.

Next on the list are fortifications/bases. Those places will yield very, very rare loot and is worth to defend/fight over!

Big Update!

I have now gotten rid of rMod, so the use of rMod is no longer required. Have updated the Server so it now requires Beta Patch 100296. I decided to do this since 98% of all the players trying to connect tried to join without rMod and thus got kicked.

42 New Vehicles have been added and I have created FOB Revolver, a military fortification for players to search for to find some especially rare loot and fight over.
