I've noticed the 'Whats your PC spec?' thread going OT. Probs my fault for bringing up the Speccy. So me thinks we should have a thread for retro console & puter games & hardware. I'll start by going through all the hardware & fave games I've had.
Consoles:
Grandstand TV game 3000 Basically pong variations, my fave was football (you got 2 paddles)
Atari 2600 Daddy of consoles. Fave games Warlords (new version available on Xbox Live Arcade) & Pitfall
Sega Master System Fave game, Kenseiden. Great side scrolling platform beat 'em up. The graphics were beautiful at the time, showing what was about to come...
Sega Megadrive Fave game, micro machines 2. Always loved mm games, and this one had two extra ports in the cartridge so you could play 4 player, 8 if you shared pads.
Sega Mega CD bought it way after it was released, never really explored it.
Playstation Fave games have prolly gotta be Driver & Tomb Raider. Oh and Micro Machines V3.
Dreamcast A great interlude while we were waiting for next gen. Fave games Revolt. Radio controlled driving game, brilliant. And Soul Caliber rocks.
Playstation 2 Bought this just for GTA III. Fave games until I got the pc versions, GTA III, Vice City & San Andreas. Fave game after, Guitar Hero series.
Xbox Yeah, fu sony. Great console. Fave game Mashed, micro machines style racing, great 4 player action. And i must mention The Bible Game, great party game and being the nature of the game the most fun was had coming up with the most wrong player name.
Game cube Bought this (well, housmate did) for Star Wars Rogue Squadron III & Donkey Conga, bongo bashing madness.
Wii Looks shit (basically a game cube with fancy controllers), but a new way to game. Fave games Link's target practice, golf, Ravin Rabbids. Not even turned it on in 6 months, novelty must have worn off.
Xbox 360 Bought it over ps3 because most of my friends have one so great for ol gaming, and GTA IV with excusive DL content. Lovin it.
Computers:
Commodore Vic 20 Early Commodore puter. Looked just like the C64, but with only 4k of ram. WTF can you do with that. Fave game Bewitched, but that was shit. Mum bought it for the family, should have consulted me first.
Sinclair ZX Spectrum Fuck yeah. Fave games, Skool Daze series, Lotus Turbo Espit, Batty, Starstrike 3D & Target Renagade 2, actually so many great games I could go on all day. Olso there was a cartoon style adventure game made by some french guys, can't remember the title but it was great.
Commodore 64 Fave games, Kickstart 2 & Wizball
PC: Fave games, emulators of most of the above & of course MTA San Andreas.
Discuss...

We had a Texas Instruments TI99/4A in 1984, which I learnt to type and program a little bit. Later on we had an Atari 2600 (which I remember my mum playing more than me). I obtained a Vic-20 and then several C64s and a C128 (I spent years doing stuff for the 64 including doing a small magazine thing) before finally succumbing to a PC around 1994.
I had an Atari ST at some point as well but didn't do much with it.

Wow IG, I remember the MM games, my bro had it on his NES, amongst other stuff. Then I used to play MM V3 on my mate's PS. I also have an Xbox sitting in my living room (mainly just used as a DVD player now) and I have mashed on that, and Soul Caliber 2. My Bro used to have a Dreamcast too, with Soul Caliber 1 on it. Bloody amazing graphics from a DC.
My earliest memory of PC gaming was probably High Octane (anybody remember that mental game?) And Syndicate (I think) Both by, I think, Bulldog. I used to love the original GTA, and Carmageddon. too. I guess that's where my current gaming habits have spawned from.
I also used to have Re-Volt, but on the PC. HEAPS of user made cars and tracks too, and online multiplayer, although it didn't really work too well on dial-up. I just played it singleplayer most of the time....
I remember the days of playing NFS II SE splitscreen with my big sister... That was fun. Especially with the cheats that let you drive 200mph trucks...

Great Topic IG Well i never really owed a console up until the PS1, and my favorite game on that was Tenchu Stealth Assasins, lopping heads and limbs off ect, great game..
ZX Spectrum..
What can i say, there were so many titles on the ZX, i recognise almost all the games listed so far..
School Daze (thanks for the link, i'll be checking that out later ) Jetset Willy - never finished it... talk about stress lol Spy vs Spy - doing your mate with the boobytraps! Turbo Esprit - i remember the road moving but not the car lol Fist of Fury - great side scrolling beat'em up!
Some other titles me and my mates had for the Speccy..
Thanatos - Rollercoaster - Nightlore - Fairlight - Horace Goes Skiing - Jetpack - Chuckie Egg - Manic Minor - Boulder Dash - B.C Bill - Tir Na Nog - Blue Max - The Great Escape and many more. We had our sources for games and copying was such a sinch back then, all you needed was a blank tape and two tape decks and you could run off multiple copies haha!
My folks once got me a Commodore 16 Plus 4 for christmas, when what i really wanted was a C64. Upraded to a C64 about a year later...
Favorite games and some classics i remember: Paper Boy - BMX Simulator - Kickstart - Speed King - Summer Games - Winter Games - <<< get here, PC conversion - Spiderman - Buggy Boy - 1942 - Super Zaxxon - Arkanoid - Beachhead - Ghosts and Goblins - Green Berret - Pole Position - Pitstop - Defender - Infiltrator and Commando!
One thing that was good about the C64 was the music..very colourful.
I did buy a Toshiba MSX that i wish i still had, it'd probably be worth a few quid now, maybe..
Complete with a cartridge slot and three games - Nightmare - Ye Ar Kung-Fu and a racing game....Spyhunter or something... i remember being very impressed with the graphics at the time, hmm lol
Then i moved on to the Amiga and owned an Amiga 1200.,
As i recall there were Atari ST users and Amiga users and a constant debate as to which was the best for games, some things never change eh
Settlers on the Amiga was the ultimate, 2 player, split screen....hours upon hours of constructing your empire and armies and then watching it all go to crap in a matter of minutes lol - it always boiled down to who had the most hardcore of knights - the more knights with gold crested helmets you had the better... and playing for a few quid always lead to some bitter fallout lol
I used a music program called Pro-Tracker for the Amiga for years - basically it was a 4 track sequencer that worked with samples, drum, base ect...
You could make some really decent tunes with it, it was so simple and no frills but awesome for it's time, i still have countless modules stored on the 2 meg hard drive.,
You look now at something like Qbase SX or FruityLoops, bah, keep it!
Memories...

My oldest bro had an Amiga thing like that (not sure what number it was) and it had voice emulator on it. Basically, you typed stuff in and it said it, but it was seriously retarded, lol.
Also had a pretty fun game where you raced Jaguar XJ220s...

Yea and u could make custom tracks, if i remember rightly there were big signs with rolf harris on the side of the road. The voice thing was awesome, i'd spend age's making it swear and change the pitch so it sounded like chipmonks.. Lol
