wanted to ask why don't u guys have stats for dd server on website?

i noticed that more and more ppl want they stats saved when they change nick or something like this

there are 2 solutions for this:
- one is serial-based stats, so you will have the same stats whatever nick you use; there will be a problem regarding this: what nick will apear in the stats?
- 2nd one is stats based on you account (the one you /register and /login with); in this case the account name will be the one appearing on the screen

i'd go for the 2nd one; ofc this will also mean you will always have to login when u join; there will be a login/register/auto-login screen too if we go for this

im waiting for your thoughts

I'd definitely go for the 2nd one as well. Like that you can play from a friend's PC or change some of the hardware without a problem. And we don't have the nick problem either.

I would go for the second as well, my same thoughts were those of skey's. I don't think a simple registration would be too much of a hassle.

But the only thing would be a forgotten password? Because most of the time when I play there is really people I've never seen before just dropping in (I guess).

EDIT: Oh and I would like to have an alias every once in a while

ok, i've come across another problem, what name will scrips output in the chatbox and the F1 menu? the actual nick or the account?

in the F1 i made it so the that list with the nicknames is sorted and it lists the actual nicks from in-game; wehen you click one his account name is shown and the stats according to that are shown

but what about when: x just broke y's streak; or x is dominating!
what should it show then? maybe: Adi ([SKC]AdiBoy) just broke Runman's streak; or Adi ([SKC]AdiBoy) is Humiliating (x1337) in the same colors that skc commands work, you know, the /arg, /bah etc

so what do you think?

also what about switching from normal, how it is now to the new system? i can make a command for everyone to use to transfer they're stats to their account, or we can just start using this system starting next month

Chatbox should display only nicknames.
F1 menu should display both nicknames and account names imo.
Scripts: only nicknames.
Switching: I suggest starting next month. Gives you some time to sort out any last-minute stuff :lol:

This is just what I think btw, feel free to ignore my suggestions if you or anyone else thinks it should be different

Yeah Adi how 'bout for DD you just make a command to transfer the points to another account like if you wanted an alias to mess around with or summat and wanted to keep earning points?

Either way I could care less about points I play for the fun.

@td: dont you think that will be confusing? for admins, they can do /alias and fins out who someone is but for others, they'll just see someone with lots of points and know anything about him

and about the switching i was thinking for a command so that you wont lose your career points; ill try to make something like a tutorial of the server that will appear for every1 at first that will tell them about registering and how to move their points from the nicks to their accounts
the only problem will appear with ppl who dont have their nicks protected bcoz ppl can steal their points i guess

Meh, dunno, most people only use one nick anyway. I think this system will mostly be used for changing clan tags or colour codes, stuff like that. People that do change nick constantly are just boobs nobody knows anyway :lol:

If it would display the account name, there would be no point in the whole nick-changing thing

And if it would display both, then the chatbox would be a bit too crowded imo.

well i think the scripts are ready, just few more things to decide before we start using them next month:

- the points transfer from nick to account (for ppl that want it)
- what if someone is using the same nick as a registered account but he isnt logged in? i guess no points for him, right? otherwise ppl will just abuse this

also just to let you know, there will be an auto-login feature: the username and pw will be stored locally on your computer tho

ok, the new stats sytem is on

i'll try to explain how it works, hope you'll understand

stats are saved on you logged in Account; if you are logged in
if you are not logged in and there is an account registered on that nick (like nick: AdiBoy Account: AdiBoy) then you wont get any stats

if you are not logged in and there is no account on that nickname then you get stats on that nickname

so, if you want you career stats then make sure your account name is the same as the nick you used before
