I know yours is a 1.8, but did you ever try a 1.6 Laguna? When I was in Brecon they had one as a company car, and it was so sluggish that it was time for bed by the time it got to 60mph.

Ah yes hitman, the old 'oil burner' literally! I still remember those photos.
Here's mine...
Hells yeah! 1.2 8 valve, 60bhp!
It's currently sitting in the street outside my student house, covered in bird shit, fucking seagulls...
I'm also insured on my dad's car (in the background there) The blue Citroen Xsara Picasso, it's a 2.0 HDi, with 110hp, a bit faster. I also learned to drive in that Citroen, lol. Only got the Punto 2 years ago.
When I first passed my test (3 years ago) I was driving that Citroen, and a battered 1975 Land Rover Series 3, I miss that old landy...

its meant to be 126BHP, yet it runs like a dog if u dont push it, i used to own a renault 19 1.8i 16v so i've got the hang of the renault shit engines, you've got to floor it in 1st gear to get the valves going lol
my fucking 110bhp audi is faster than it, purely coz of the turbo
Matt88 wrote:Ah yes hitman, the old 'oil burner' literally! I still remember those photos.
i took these photos this morning lol
i fixed the oil leak, well it wasn't an oil leak, it was the fuel pump leaking diesel, it needs a new rear brake caliper, 3 arms on the front, 2 engine mounts, and a few other little things to get it pass the MOT, then i will be sadly putting it up for sale. It's taken me to hell and back that car! will be sorely missed!

It's not street legal and I haven't got a license so I use it to drive around like a madman on my uncles turf.

Now now killer, time to come clean.
Is that your car, or your dad's car?
Also, this topic is called 'what do you drive' not 'what does your dad drive'.
(My dad drives a Land Rover Discovery Series 2, and a Citroen Xsara Picasso, btw. My mum drives those too...)

Ok.
Can you change the topic to 'WHAT DO YOU RIDE??' because I have a mountain-bike. It's cheap to run, no insurance, no petrol, self-service, it portable, it's cool, it's much cheaper that a car. All you need is a pair of legs!
EDIT: That sounds rude doesn't it?

It's going to reach the 200 pence aper litre mark pretty soon. Diesel will approximate at an average of 230 pence a litre. Watch and see. It's gonna go mad in England.
Also the Shell trucks are gonna go on strike as people are s4itting it as they are filling uo their cars to the max as they think it's going to go up even more as I have mentioned.
Havent you noticed that we have reached 130 pence per litre for Diesel ALREADY? It was about 60 pence about 4-5 years ago and now it's madly increasing EVEN more?
Edit: Hitman, you drive a car, your older than me by about double and still you don't know this petrol rise reaching 2.00 per litre? C'mon man.

Edit: Hitman, you drive a car, your older than me by about double and still you don't know this petrol rise reaching 2.00 per litre? C'mon man. Razz
petrol was 76p per litre when i first started driving when i was 21, its been nearly 7 years for petrol to rise 44p per litre to £1.20. So its going to rise 85p per litre in a year or so?
And guess what's even worse? It's almost guaranteed to rise even higher than the predictions because fat arses at home cba going on strike and are driving their cars less. Mr.Brownie is seeing this as great and it's true but shit, he didn't have to do that!
lol, do u actually know who the strikes effect? its the haulage companys, van/lorry based businesses, commutors, these are the ones that suffer, the price never goes lower yet if they strike they lose money.
and the winner is the oil company/government once again, when we strike, the public panic buy, the forecourts run dry, the businesses that need it panic buy, the oil companys earn more than double on that day, then we go without for a day or two, while still oil companys still fill up garages and keep a small supply to earn money from until the strike fails and the oil can safely run back into our countrys and pumps.

I'm talking about petrol in 'general'. That's what i'm talking about.
Anyway lets not talk the topic into a two mans battle. You win. Just let it continue. Sorry for my input Matt as I didn't read the topic clear enough.
> I ride a mountain bike which is blue and silver. I love to take it for a dirty wash off-road and peddle my way throught mud. Me and my bike
> I don't drive.
Hope that makes things much more clearer.

Hit, not to go aginst you or anyhting, but petrol has risen about 14p per litre in about 4 months. And if that cunt Darling gets his way, tax on it is going up again, let alone the price of the oil itself.

I also have a mountain bike too, actually.
It's a Raleigh Mantis. Sounds cool, isn't really, just a standard solid framed thing, it's gold with red / blue bits on it, and some crappy black plastic mudguards I put on.
I haven't been for a good ride for a while. (pun intended, lol)

It's get xavi from A to B. I just hate bussing it ti town almost everyday and can't wait to have my own PC (personal-car ) in a few years time. It will be no more than a 1.2 diesel. Looking at petrol, I'd effing twist GB's head off if it rises to 200p but that's a conclusion made (not by me).
The thing is more people are driving less because of this and personally I think that this is a nice little plan working out for him to 'save the environment' and he's right, but still I effing hate him for doing that. All the government want is $$$ and more $$$.

Holy Shit. I just drove 30 miles in 25 minutes in my 1.2 Punto.
Poor, poor little car... I even got in front of an MR2 on the dual carriageway for about 3 miles! The dual carriageway was only about 10 miles of the journey.
What's worse is: I wasn't even trying, the roads are just really empty on a Sunday evening...

Yeah, he was right behind me when I pulled onto the dual carriageway, I thought he was just gonna go straight past me. But I was just cruising at 80 odd watching him fall behind, thinking 'wtf?' then I overtook a 4x4 at about 85-90 a few miles down the road, and the same MR2 just appeared right up my arse, so I pulled back in and he went past, probably at about a ton, or more...
I just thought, "about bloody time... I'm only driving a 1.2..."
I still found it funny that I embarrassed an MR2 in my Punto. I think the guy was getting sick of watching a 5-door punto in a dodgy shade of metallic red get the better of him, lol.

I drove 110kmh (70mph) in a Opel (Vauxhall) Astra 1.6 Sport... 2nd gear, lol
A workmate told me his car can do that, and i didn't believe him ;D so he gave me the keys immediately ;p
Well.. it couldn't go faster then 110km/h in 2nd gear.. it was at his limit; 6200rpm ^^

Anyone ever tried Citroëns or own one?
My grandfather has a Citroën Xara 1.4 in Blue and it takes years for it to reach 100kph and screams the hell out at that speed. Citroën's really are 'shit' for all I know.
