I just wanted to add that, after spending some time away from the server, I've had a barrel of fun on the race server over the last few evenings. Most of the maps are great, the new car models are brill, and I've regained my fondness for it all. I have to get used to the handling of the cars, as MTA:DM makes the cars feel a lot more 'loose'. It means that with cars like the Banshee, which I used to handle pretty well in the olden days, I now spend most of the time facing the wrong way after applying just a tad too much nitro :aaargh:

great work ht but stop abusing the F1 script, its making some maps really bad, maps that were just fine without it
also why did u fuckup the race-wrc(s) ?? i mean, have you played them after you modified them? they're just soooo bad now

i think you got a bit carried away with all this modding, so stop using the f1 script in every single map, and add a message about it on those that have it so ppl know

i just added a new info resource that shows Server/Racing Tips on map starts, once every 2 races
Blue message = server-related, orange = racing related
you can disable tips using /notips; /showtips to re-enable
Tell me what you think, this is mainly made for noobs, maybe they can see these messages more
Now i only added some messages but we should make a good list of them so post here what i should add to it or remove from it

Here's the current list:
1Press F1 for Player Statistics

the numbers in front mean server or racing-related, they won't appear in-game

Tips wise >> maybe something about midair car control. I've seen countless "noobs" crash and burn after a jump because they lack the basics essentials of air control - it must really piss some people off. Quite a few maps depend on players having the knowhow too.

Midair Car Control = use your directional keys to perfect your landings!

Not sure about gamepads, same principle i guess, with the stick?

There's also the airbrake trick, difficult to get across without having to explain to someone in great detail how it works

The infos are a good idea though, all useful.

hey, do we really need the increased server speed? it fucks up maps with f1 quite noticeably..
also i noticed another good map that has f1 script that shouldnt have it at all: Super Raceway.. i think f1 fucks up a lot of maps, how about removing it from these??

I have to agree with what Adi is saying, most of the time during an F1 scripted race i find myself thinking something along the lines of....ok, here we go again with ths shite!!

No offence intended but enough is enough, there are very few maps that i consider have benefited from the F1 script, i couldn't count them on one hand. Most of the time the handling is beyond anything realistic, the brakes are useless, and not to mention the fact that none of it does the original design of any maps that have it any justice whatsoever, it makes me want to disconnect from the server, that's honestly how i feel.

F1 on the race server was introduced as an experiment and with good intentions, i get that, but we've got to ask ourselves is it really that good?!??

wot? u mean remove the f1 fast driving mod on the races???? we still on this??????? in my humble opinion it IMPROVES some of the races, gives it a new edge, and makes it a completely different race, just learn how to drive fast people!!!

I was under the impression HT is pro-F1 where as Adi is the opposite :roll:

Anyway there's a much bigger problem at the minute, tonight's MW was a total disaster, we basically picked up where we left off from yeserday's MW after the server crashed. Everything's a bit screwy.

we're trying a new bugfix to see if the webstats were the reason for ungiven mw points..

lastnights MW began with the amount of MW points players had at the moment the server crashed during Sunday's MW.

There was also some problem with the normal race points gained during MW, any normal race points won were not being added to your total championship points. It's like the points system just froze for the duration of MW.

In some cases, i'm not sure if it happened to me but some players were losing points.

Anyway we stuck it out, and after 20 rounds everyone was allocated the 150 - 100 - 50 - 25 points as normal :wink:

Hmm, you know about previous map ratings showing as unregistered? athough they still show in chat each time a map starts.

why dont you keep reading till the end of the thread? i wasnt speaking of one map especially, i was talking about most maps in general; and the new f1 script that will be added will be much easier to modify for each map (which needs it ofc) and is more real-like anyway...

so im not just deleting the script you use but changing it into a better more real-like one, which should've been done in the first place instead of just copying the script from an formula-one based map

I know Adi, I just picked on that particular comment because I disagreed, super raceway is excellent for more speed.

I dont see the point if you want to do the same thing, differently....that old saying "if it aint broke dont fix it"

It just seems like you made your mind up and to hell with people who actually enjoyed the faster racing.

I know its a F1 script, but a Buffalo still handles like a faster Buffalo,....or Cheetah, or Bullet.

We will see anyway, im always game for something new!

And another thing, the snow theme failed because it doesnt make racing more fun, it made it more difficult.....but I had an idea, I have seen a video of someone driving around GTASA where all the roads and pavements were replaced with a simple road texture with just 2 white lines at the edge......making the GTASA world into a racetrack!!! It looked awesome and would certainly improve the racing action!

i enjoy most of the tracks with f1 on em, rob is right, it makes tracks we've been doing forever DIFFERENT and more fun, and surely thats a good thing? just because u have to relearn corner speeds etc again, doesnt mean its shit, it means u have to get better again

The winter theme failed because mta would not allow us to replace so many textures at the same time. So unfortenetly the racetrack idea won't work out too well either.

the current f1 system does make the maps different but very few maps are good with it imo.. not to say that noobs will always die on such maps so its not noob friendly either..

and stop saying that im doing this just bcoz i dont like it bcoz its not just me and all im trying to do is make it enjoyable for more ppl.. how does replacing the current ridiculous script with a better one that doesnt make the cars go 1000 km/h when you press W hurt ppl who like faster racing?

anyway, the script is done; the old f1 is still on, this one isnt enabled yet bcoz i was thinking of going back the the old "each car with its own settings" idea..
it would be the same script just that instead of setting up each map we set each cars, which are obviously lower in numbers than maps and would be easier and making much more sense..
the only downside i can see on this is that some maps might get even more fucked up but i can make it so the script will be disabled on such maps..

and it would all be done in-game, no more resource modifying and shit

Ok, i removed the old f1-scripts and enabled the new one; i guess it will take a while untill most of the maps will get the new script on, maybe then we can reset the toptimes or something..

You can tell if a map has the script active by seeing the speedo on the lower-right corner; Danboi sugested that i move it on the left, between the car names and the radar.. feel free to give sugestions..

theres a command that deletes all the times for the current map, like /deletetime, only that this remove all the times for that map, i can enable it for all admins if necessary, its called: /deltops but i can change that into somethine easier to remember..

its a weather script that seems quite realistic, the only problem is being a race server means we cant use the in-game time bcoz it changes with every race..

so i'll have to adapt the script to real-life time i guess... now how should this work: keeping the 24hr=24 minutes (the original gtasa time) or maybe 1 real-time hour = 1 day in-game.. or dunno, post your toughts here..

another possibility would be race-based; like 10 races = 1 in-game day but this wouldnt be that realistic anymore..

yes.. thats the point with it being as it is now; i changed it to work without considering the races.. so it will be 24 real-time minutes = 24 hours in-game.. this is the original gta sa time.. i only have to add the time to the gui and will upload the script; i think ill put it on tomorow when i have time.. the hotkey for the gui will be F6 btw

Yeh I dunno how it would work, but for it to work atall it should be continuous time, with the real weather effects.

If a map started, and the time changed, and then the weather changed, it would not make sense.

If thats the case then just leave it.

It would just be awesome though! With real time and weather passing, you'd never see the exact same race twice! It just adds to the realism, and at the same time makes the racing more Variable and interesting.

24hrs in 24mins seems best, if it was real time id always be racing in the dark
