[SUGGESTION] Style points

Ive had this idea in my head for a long time so I finally decided to post it here. I think it would be fun to have style points (as in NFSU) in game. But then again, this is not NFS but GTA so the style points need to be modified as follows:

The style points would consist of drifting, jumping, 2 wheel driving, wheelie, stoppie and any other stunts. Every stunt would have its own point-gain-speed. The points would count per race and would display in the scoreboard as well as in the player's hud. There could be even a leaderboard of people with the most style points too!

Maybe category "style" could be added to the monthly championship. So at the end of a month there would be 2 winners. 1 winner would be the official one (player with most points) and second one would be the most stylish driver (with most style points). Of course being the best racer would be more important than being a stylish racer and so, when there would be some kind of rewards, the stylish racer would receieve lower rewards than the best racer.

I think its a great way to evaluate people who like drifting, have a different driving style or do backflips while jumping and such. So far the players who raced stylish got rewarded with a race loss. This would change with the style points. They would lose anyway, but at least they would get something for their efforts and energy.

If I understand then, you join to race, but you don't play it.
You just do stunts drifts etc etc and the end of the month you get a prize for not playing race on race server.

No, you dont get it right. The style points are just addition = something extra. Its not and should not be someone's main job. The main goal should still be finishing first but also, at the same time, trying to look as awesome as you can. I didnt realise that people might do only stunts and such when I posted this, but if yes, then its their problem after all. Every normal SKC player plays the server to win, not to do horseshit. Maybe the style points should be given only for drifting and 2 wheel driving to prevent this kind of behaviour. You see, I dont want to change this server to a stunt server (and i personally dont like stunt servers), i just want to reward people who make some epic moves while trying to be the first. I hope you understand.

well you need to get a big lead to try something like that during a race ! as far i can see and on a normal race SKC allways end up in 1 or 2 secs difference at the finish so i repeat that wont be a good thing for race!! if you drive on two wheels you will loose speed so that will give your position away honestly am not seeing that working at least for the race server.
Now if you say for us to had a extra chart for stunt points maybe that works. During some races and i speak for myself i do some stunts but mostly of them hazards from the map and not forced by me .

That could only work on special maps.Like the first who reaches 1337 stuntpoints wins or so imo

or you'd get the points only if you can be at least the 5th, so it makes it harder to get the 1337 pts, because you should finish the race while you do the stunts

Could be a pretty cool gimmick. The only problem is scripting it. We can't even detect kills in DD. Detecting a drift seems close to impossible.

But these scripts are not finished. 2th support wheelie and you can earn money. Maybe it will not be too difficult to change the money part to give points.

Thank you for posting it Csena. I was just about to do the same. Btw I have the drift script on my server and it works like a charm except for all the warnings it outputs. And yes, the only 3 things that need to be done are

1. making a drift script similiar to the one above but bugless
2. converting money from stunts into points
3. making 1 point counter for both things

Alternatively if there is a big problem with making just 1 counter for 2 different things, it can be divided in drift and stunt points separately. Altough, I dont think its going to be a problem.

Ive just got a new idea which would even more improve the gameplay. The idea is to decrease style points upon ramming. So every time you hit a car, you lose portion of SP. This will encourage rammers to put GM on or drive more carefully. The only bad thing about it is, that (i think) MTA cant distinguish between the rammer and the victim so both will have their SP decreased.

i like the idea but i can't really see it working with our points system, what we can do is a map-bases stats, like a top drifters for every map, like the toptimes...

Well I didnt mean the SP to be in the same system as normal points, they should naturally have a different one. But even this would be alright. I also originally wanted the points to be counted per map, but then I got the idea about the championship etc. so I suggested those. But as I said, it will be cool either way. The most important thing is to get it working and display it in player's HUD + show it in scoreboard or somewhere else, so the others can see how much you have, too. If the points are reset on every map or per motnh doesnt really matter to me.
