well chappies
long time no see. mainly because i've installed about 5 or 6 mods to cars which of course means i cant race!

and when i get the urge to race i'm tooooo lazy to start uninstalling the mods so i had an idea.

firstly i used to change the handling.cfg file sometimes for a bit of fun
i kept the original handling.cfg file and renamed it 0handling.cfg
then when i wanted to revert to the original i renamed the modded handling file as modhandling.cfg and the original file from 0handling.cfg to handling.cfg. restoring order and allowing me to race

but as the mods to cars [i.e. replacing entire vehicles] are more complicated [and the file sizes are much bigger and involve several files i didnt bother [partly because i just did it out of curiosity and then found it quite fun]

so i was thinking of writing a little prog in vb which would do it all automatically, i.e. rename the files appropriatly to switch between good ole fashioned san andreas and modded san andreas
all you'd have to do is keep copies of the original files in the proper directories named 0filename.extension

and then i thought maybee somebody has done this already?
if so maybe you could point me in the right direction?
if not then maybe you could double check that the files i need to toggle are the right ones

carcols.dat
vehicles.ide
carmods.dat ?

IN THE MODELS FOLDER:
gta3.img

am i missing any?
n.b. this is just for the mods which replace cars
eg replace the premier with a bmw or stg

hmmm yes two installs seems like a good idea
disk space isnt an issue [1Tb] but its too late anyway
i've written the program,
i just need to get the original files back, which i can get from my bro on friday. i'm pretty sure its just the 5 i've mentioned above, but if i've left one out lettuice know

i know 1 Tb is a bit shoddy but bear in mind my system is almost 3 yrs old
