When it is a lot of players on a server, you can start from nearer position. This advantage. But when you are lonely on a server, you will start always from last position. And it is fair.

Making the analogy with race car competitions, the time that counts for a track record is the one made during a race, not during qualifying.
And I think even a record can be deleted when the track layout changes â€“ but that's another matter for discussion.

Back to MTA, when there are more people in the server, the hindrance caused by other players is offset by a higher points reward for a finish, so one can aim for a better Points per Race ratio, in detriment of record setting.

However, if map makers (or editors

) wish to compensate for the empty server advantage, they can layout the starting grid in reverse order: the first spawnpoints are placed on the back of the starting grid, while the last are placed in front. Thus, a lone runner will start further back, maybe increasing their time in a few seconds.

So my vote goes for... BEER! I mean, a real poll should always have a BEER! option.

i agree with plodders if server is empty the only motivation to go in is racing against toptimes and hope for some players to join .
I use !redo if am alone on server but i ll stop if so is decided
maybe we could have 2 kinds of toptimes
1-toptimes you have
2-toptimes you seted- this shows d number toptimes you ever did even if they dont belong to you anymore
or
Medals
1st best time-gold
2nd best time-silver
3rd best time... forgot name-*bronze*????
both systems i ve seen on other clan servers alw /uva

lol oki maybe i didnt explain well ,can you know how many 2nd or 3rd toptimes you held or how many maps do i have with 2nd or 3rd best time?

After voting about a month ago, I finally have something to add to the debate.

A few days ago I managed to get myself a top time (took long enough!). There were only 6 people on the server at the time but I reckon I got my top time by getting away clean at the beginning then making no mistakes.

My point is, from the race I did, it would have made no difference had there been no-one on the server, as I managed to get away first. So, if you want to stop ppl from getting top times on an empty server (disregarding the !redo point), you should also remove the times of those ppl who got a good start at the beginning of the race and therefore had empty roads to race on.

I know I'm not being very clear but hopefully you guys should see what I'm aiming at.

I dont think people joining late at night and racing their bestest to break a toptime is a problem. If you CAN drive fast enough to beat a time fair n square, then u deserve it.

Its just so easy to get a rs bug with the !new and !voteredo command. If theres only 1 person on, u shouldnt be able to use !new and !voteredo...

And u cant prove anything by looking in the logs either, they can say they just !new'd 20 times to get a good run, when they might have been trying to get rs bugged.....unless they die every single time before a !new...

But if u tryed the double map-start idea then it wouldnt matter, and noone would wonder ever again "is that a genuine toptime?"
