The latest edition of Gametrailers’ Bonus Round discussed Grand Theft Auto 4, its Xbox 360-exclusive expansions, and Grand Theft Auto 5’s release date. You can watch the episode below.
To quote investment banker Wedbush Morgan Securities’ game industry analysts Michael Pachter: “I actually think they already have a story in mind. GTA5 is already in the planning stage and my guess is you’ll see [the next GTA] in two and a half years. In fall of 2010, there’ll be Grand Theft Auto 5.”
This video shows clues that point to GTA 5 taking place in San Andreas or France.

This Grand Theft Auto Bonus Round episode discusses whether or not the release of GTA 4 on April 29th, 2008, was the fall of GTA as a series. Or if Rockstar will reach new heights with it or future games.
January 2009 update: After rumors circulating on the internet, Rockstar confirmed that there would be no GTA5 in 2009. While most companies don’t respond to rumors, Rockstar probably thought it would damage sales of their two upcoming GTA4 downloadable episodes (the 1st in February, the 2nd in October), which they are still working on. As a result 2010 is looking more logical for GTA5.
September 2009 update: During GTA publisher Take-Two’s Q3 2009 earnings call, chairman Strauss Zelnick denied GTA5 by — ironically — talking about GTA5. To quote: “We’re not going to announce it. We’re not going to announce when we’re going to announce it. And we’re not going to announce the strategy about announcing it or about when we’re going to announce it either, or about the announcement strategy surrounding the announcement of the strategy. Any other questions?”
Piper Jaffray’s Anthony Gikas weighs in on the release date and thinks GTA5 will be out sometime between November 2010 – October 2011. To quote: “Our confidence in the company’s profitability profile is improving as product flow for FY 2010 is greatly improved and Grand Theft Auto V is expected in FY ‘11.”
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter claimed: “While we still expect a GTA game in calendar 2010, it is not clear that the game will be released before the end of Take-Two’s fiscal year ending October 31, 2010.”
Grand Theft Auto 5 location hintOctober 2009 update: On page 17 of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City’s game manual, Rockstar gives a teaser where the next GTA game might be. Up until now it was most likely Grand Theft Auto V: Vice City. Which is a guess, because at the end of Grand Theft Auto IV, Niko’s plane ticket says “Vice City”. And this teaser image (scan shown below) — which also appears on a billboard near Star Junction, next to Liberty City’s Seagull — says “Liberty City, It’s Over! Next Stop. Theatre Seagull” with a hint we’ll find out more in March 2010. Meaning the new “Theatre Seagull” location could be opening up anywhere that has the mountains and beaches shown in that location depiction; Any place from England, France, San Andreas to Seattle and beyond. Where do you want to see the next GTA take place?
November 2009 update: GTA series producer/writer/voice artist Dan Houser had an interview with The Times London newspaper about the next GTA game. To quote the article: “There’s a Western game in the works for next spring, and the next GTA to think of. ‘We’ll think of a city first, then the characters,’ says Houser. The script he will end up co-writing will run to around 1,000 pages, nearly ten times as much as a feature film.“
GTA IV Poster ("Liberty City is Over")

A Move to Europe
Some people have interpreted a supposed teaser that featured in the manual of Episodes from Liberty City to confirm this very fact, though we're less certain. We are, however, hopeful that the series shifts its sights away from the lampooning of the American Dream and towards the more difficult target of European culture.
It's not totally foreign territory for the series – a decade ago two expansion packs were released for the first Grand Theft Auto that took players to a cartoonish take of London in the swinging sixties. The new realism that fully blossomed in the fourth game would mean an approach far-removed from the high camp of the last attempt, but the idea of Rockstar turning its eye to London, Paris or Berlin is one that's wonderfully tantalising.
Back to the Past
GTA III was set in a contemporary Liberty City, the subsequent instalments evoking the eighties and nineties in turn with charm and precision. It's tempting to think that Rockstar will take GTA IV's engine on a similar journey, though the question is where to?
Romanzo Criminale - a seventies Italian setting for the next GTA would be awesome.
We'll rule out the thirties, forties and fifties – 2K have another little open world game that deals with that slice of history – and with the last two decades of the last century already claimed by Vice City and San Andreas it leaves but one option – the seventies. Tying in with our previous wish, a take on the Mafia-run Rome of the seventies would be delicious – think Romanzo Criminale but with more car chases.
That is, of course, assuming Rockstar wants to go somewhere new. They'd be forgiven for returning to past glories – after all, it worked in GTA IV – and an HD take on the neon-soaked world of Vice City would be welcomed by many – us included.
A Playground City
We'd never belittle the achievements of GTA IV, but in the short time since its release other games have shown that there can be other ways to exploit an open world. Ubisoft Montreal's Assassin's Creed II, in particular, gives players a series of cities that are elaborate climbing frames, and scaling its many heights is one of the game's most thrilling pleasures.
We're not asking for free-running in our next slice of GTA, but for a more flexible lead who's happier in clambering walls and who's given more free reign to explore the world around them, and someone who's nimble enough to make a chase on foot as exhilarating as a chase behind the wheel of a top-end car.
I think GTA 5 will take place in both San Andreas and Vice City (and Liberty City optional)all cities will be redisgned, so we can travel with a plane from one to another one.
what do you think??

From what i can gather from the poster its either France, or looking at the poster underneath, Vice City.
Following the timeline that has been followed so far it would make sense to make GTA 5 an updated version of Vice City, just like GTA 4 was an updated version of Liberty City. Even in previous versions it was always liberty city first, then vice city and then san andreas.
And GTA in french? really? If they were going down the Europse route, London would be a far more obvious choice.

I think it's gonna be vice city, it just makes sense.
But who says it'll be called GTA V ?
Liberty city, vice city and san andreas are technically all III
I'm guessing on something like GTA IV: Vice City.
Perhaps it'll even be with Nico again, just think about it, the ending of IV is actually pretty sad with Nico deciding that the american dream is a hollow one. Perhaps he wants to get away from the bad memories (death of kate/roman) and start over in vice? Dunno, would be pretty cool imo.
