As suggested before. Front pages like these:

As for other question - remove shoutbox and make a special page for chat. We could have chatrooms, like dm room, race room, forum room and other custom rooms. then, we could send pms from chatroom to persons in-game.
And I dont like youtube thing. their videos arent quality. and loading all that would be harder? maybe just placing screenshot from a video, with link to the video on utube or somewhere else...

I'm thinking about a chat section, but I don't know yet how I'm going to do it. An option would be to have a Java IRC client on the site, but I'm not convinced about how user-friendly this will be to an IRC novice. I also want to restrict IRC access through the site - only making it accessible to registered users, making their nickname from the site the same as their nickname on IRC, and keeping them only on the skc channel and the echo channels. I am also concerned about users joining the echo channels and spamming the servers. If we go down this route, then I will remove the shoutbox.

Then on the front/home page. The two news forums would have the first post of the most recent five threads shown, with a 'Comments' link to the thread if people want to reply to it. Also, as someone suggested, there could be the top 5 players shown, as well as a list of the last 5 posts made to the forum.

Im sure theres a java irc client modified to work with phpbb. Surely that would incorporate only registerd users thing? Maybe just the SKC members group aswell to stop spamming.

You need to recruit a 'news guy' for the front page. The content is easy, like a review on the battles, news on map/server updates, who's joined skc, who's left, a top 5 points scorers box, videos, calender (upcoming/past battles) and one thing skc is missing, personalised downloads (wallpapers/screensavers/skins/Inspector gordons idea could fit here too). A mta cam would be cool if you could have a player in spectator constantly and a webcam filming the server streaming to the site. Dont think spectator is possible tho unless something could be done with the scripts. Content pwns

yeah good ideas Hitman, as about spectator there's a way to do this.. as it was on the clan with EFO, put helicopters on every map.. a player gets in a chopper and films from the air, different angles great view

You have a chat link at the top, why would you want more ways to give urls of simcity-like games?

Seriously, you have the forum, IRC, in-game - why do you need a fourth method of communicating? Next you'll be asking for a telephone directory with all members in it :lol:

Forums are for big messages.
IRC is like msn
but chatbox is something inbetween.
your message gets saved so people can see it,but it only lasts for a day or 2
i think thats great

but you're right about the city stuff...
ban the minicity links!! :twisted:

Just to mention - the chat system has changed slightly, so now when you want to talk to players on a server, you no longer have to type !say in front of your message. You can still type !players to receive a list of people on the server.
